چکیده

We address the problem of searching for a two-dimensional pattern in a two-dimensional text (or image), such that the pattern can be found even if it appears rotated and brighter or darker than its occurrence. Furthermore, we consider approximate matching under several tolerance models. We obtain algorithms that are almost worst-case optimal. The complexities we obtain are very close to the best current results for the case where only rotations, but not lighting invariance, are supported. These are the first results for this problem under a combinatorial approach.

A New RSTB Invariant Image Template Matching Based on Log-Spectrum and Modified ICA

Template matching is a widely used technique in many of image processing and machine vision applications. In this paper we propose a new as well as a fast and reliable template matching algorithm which is invariant to Rotation, Scale, Translation and Brightness (RSTB) changes. For this purpose, we adopt the idea of ring projection transform (RPT) of image. In the proposed algorithm, two novel s...

Rotation Invariant Template Matching

In rotation invariant template matching one wants to find finding from the given input image the locations that are similar to the given pattern template, so that the pattern may have any orientation. Template matching is an old but important problem in computer vision and pattern recognition, and thus there have also been many attempts to solve it. Most of the most succesful solutions so far c...

Implementation and Comparative Analysis of Rotation Invariance Techniques in Fingerprint Recognition

In the image processing systems, the input image is first preprocessed, which may involve restoration, enhancement or just proper representation of the data. The most significant problem in image analysis is the detection of presence of an object within a given scene or an image. Such a problem occurs in trademarks classification and other areas like remote sensing for monitoring growth pattern...

Invariant Template Matching with Tangent Vectors

Template matching is the search for a known object, represented by a template image, at an arbitrary location within a larger image. The local measure of match is often desired to be invariant to certain transforms, such as rotation and dilation, of the template. While a variety of solutions have been proposed, most are designed to provide invariance to a specific transform or set of transforms...

Rotation-discriminating template matching based on Fourier coefficients of radial projections with robustness to scaling and partial occlusion

We consider brightness/contrast-invariant and rotation-discriminating template matching that searches an image to analyze A for a query image Q. We propose to use the complex coefficients of the discrete Fourier transform of the radial projections to compute new rotation-invariant local features. These coefficients can be efficiently obtained via FFT. We classify templates in “stable” and “unst...
